According to legend, the famous mountaineer Reinhold Messner visited the locally renowned sports shop «marba-sport®» owned by the Bachmann family in Zofingen during the 1980s (his brother Helmut still lives in the neighboring village of Strengelbach). While browsing the store, he came across the crampons shown here, but ultimately decided against purchasing them.

Subsequently, the crampons were paired with a safety rope and an ice axe to form a set. This set remained in the proud possession of the Bachmann family and has now found its home as a decorative item in the «Waldli» chalet on the Hasliberg.
